Kinship Carer Support

FSG recognises that one of the most valued sources of support is peer support, through informal support groups where people can feel listened to, get local advice, and recognise that they are not alone.

We believe that making support groups more inclusive enables more of them to flourish, and that bringing different types of families together with common challenges enables mutual understanding and appreciation.

Regular Support Meetings

This page will provide details of forthcoming Support Groups for Foster & Kinship Carers, both virtual and face-to-face. The first local meetings will be focused on carers in Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire.

From time to time we will have guests from Local Authorities, Police, Education and advisory services.

In 2022 we welcomed Michael Usher and David Prior from Michael Usher will and estate planning to discuss what kinship carers in particular should think about.

In November 2023 we invited Rt Hon Michael Gove MP for Surrey Heath to meet us and listen and learn about the experiences of kinship carers.

In June 2023 we invited the parliamentary candidates for Surrey Heath to meet us.
